RESERVES: CHIPPENHAM 1 - 0 CARDIFF
A Cardiff City XI comprised of youth and reserve team players fell to a one-nil defeat at Hardehuish Park on Tuesday night. New Chippenham Town striker Jake Ried was the difference in a match that also saw a late Matt Green penalty saved to deny parity.
The Cardiff squad was largely made up of Academy players, but also included a few players following their Portugal return on Monday night. The aforementioned Green was also joined by Kevin Cooper, Darcy Blake and Aaron Ramsey after spending a week in Lisbon with the first team.

Chippenham's goal came after 28 minutes. The West Country Bluebirds were awarded a free kick on the right hand side. City successfully dealt with the set piece but failed to pick up the second ball. Chippenham launched the ball back into the City penalty area and the ball ricocheted to a Chippenham player in blatant offside position. Chippenham took full advantage and scored easily from the resulting pass.

Jon Brown won a penalty in the 73rd minute after skilfully breaking into the box. Matt Green took the pen which was saved by the impressive Chippenham keeper.

Bradley Middleton picked up a nasty head injury and had to be substituted. Fortunately Brad is ok. Matt Green looked to have made amends in the 93rd minute after he Cruyff turned in the Chippenham area and was brought down, however a penalty was not given.
