Club Captain. Born 14/2/77 Stepney.
Ex-Leyton Orient trainee/full pro., Oxford United, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion. Ex-England Under-21 International. Darren was signed for £600,000 July 29th 2005. He missed only six Championship matches in 2005/06 and had a very consistent season first campaign with the Club. He scored six goals in his first season, five of them coming from the penalty spot Last season (2006/07) he was a regular to mid-January but then an injury kept him out until early-April. He made 33 Championship and Cup appearances in 2006/07, and during the summer signed an extended contract with the Club.
