The Bluebirds kept their 100% record with a good performance and win over Vitoria de Setubal 1-0 with Steve MacLean getting the winner in the second half.

It was the second and final game on the tour and the best performance to date. For long periods of the game the Bluebirds looked comfortable against their Premiership opponents.

The team worked hard in units and kept their shape all the way through the game. This was very impressive considering the heat in which the game took place. The first half had plenty of possession but no real chances to note.

Some more strange decisions from the officials denied City what looked a certain penalty after the industrious Sinclair seemed to be pulled back in the box.

You could see it was only a matter of time before the free flowing City opened their account.

It came after a good move which involved 5 players and culminated with man of the match Gavin Rae found the un-marked MacLean free in the box and he calmly slotted under the advancing keeper.

Rae put in a superb performance of drive, vision and presence that complimented the free passing McPhail.

The combination in the middle of the park nearly lead to City stretching their lead as a fantastic passing movement opened up an opportunity for Rae to get his shot away and forced the Setubal keeper to make a superb save.

All in all the Bluebirds did everything right in terms of building up to the season. They looked solid and used the ball well in all areas of the pitch.

Dave Jones will be pleased with the performance as it was another good work-out with no injuries sustained.
