Roberto Martinez has urged new signing Warren Feeney to rise to the challenge and take his chance at Swansea City.

Feeney arrived on deadline day on a four month loan from fellow Welsh side Cardiff City. And Martinez has urged the Northern Ireland international to take his opportunity at the club.

"It is a great opportunity for him, he is determined to make it work and I'm sure he is up for the challenge," said Martinez.

Martinez is also confident that despite the fact Feeney has come from bitter rivals Cardiff City, he will be treated fairly by the Swansea City supporters.

"Our fans have always been fair and honest," said Martinez. "If he works hard and shows that to the supporters I'm sure they will treat him with warmth. I don't think where you come from is important if you are performing on the pitch. Warren is an international and he will give us the competition we need up front after losing Lee Trundle."
