The advance guard of the "Bluebirds Down Under" contingent have arrived in Cardiff in preparation for our F.A. Cup Final at Wembley on Saturday, and two of them - brothers Russell and Darren Goldsworthy from Perth in Western Australia - made a nostalgic visit to Ninian Park on Tuesday when we were pleased to show them behind the scenes.

They are originally from Ynyshir in The Rhondda and have been in Perth for twenty-six years. They are part of a group, approximately fifty strong, who have travelled from Australia and New Zealand to see The Bluebirds face Portsmouth at Wembley. Several more are coming from Asia, and a few from the U.S.A.

According to the Goldsworthys - "The Club has been very helpful in allocating us tickets for the game through Peter Ridsdale, and we were pleased to be able to meet him on our visit to Ninian Park last Tuesday and to thank him on behalf of all of us who have made the trip."

Russell Goldsworthy was last at Ninian Park on October 26th 1996 when we defeated Leyton orient 3-0 with goals from Steve White (penalty), Carl Dale and Jimmy Gardner. Darren was here more recently when we lost 1-0 to Coventry City on August 25th 2007.

Most of The Bluebirds Down Under group, who keep in touch with each other on their website, are meeting for lunch in Cardiff Market on Friday, and are then moving on to the Victoria Park pub in Cowbridge Road East at 6.00pm. All of the Bluebirds Down Under fans will be in this country for an average of five to seven days.

Russell and Darren are very confident that we will win the F.A. Cup, and they booked their flights for the Final BEFORE we beat Barnsley in the semi-final - "We watched that match on a big screen in the Birdswood Casino in Perth, and there were a considerable number of City fans there with us. There were a few Barnsley fans there as well."

But it's Bluebirds Down Under who are here for Wembley on Saturday, and they are all looking forward to a great weekend and to celebrating a Bluebirds win.
