We go to Turf Moor this Saturday to face Burnley after two disappointing away performances, resulting in a 3-2 defeat at Scunthorpe last Saturday, and a 3-0 reverse at Wolves on Tuesday. Both The Bluebirds and The Clarets have two matches left in the Championship with hopes now gone of reaching the top six. So both clubs will be looking to finish as high as possible, while we will be aiming for two good performances - against Burnley and at home to Barnsley a week on Sunday - before our F.A. Cup Final date with Portsmouth at Wembley on May 17th.

It was on October 6th last that we defeated Burnley 2-1 at Ninian Park with goals from Joe Ledley and Paul Parry, and for the record it is twenty years since we last won at Turf Moor. On May 7th 1988 Alan Curtis and Jimmy Gilligan scored for us in a 2-1 in what was the last League of a season that saw us win promotion from the original Fourth Division. Since then we have been to Turf Moor on eight occasions resulting in two draws and six defeats.

It has been an inconsistent spell recently for Burnley who have won three, drawn one and lost five of their last eight games and are currently in twelfth place, one position above ourselves. Following a 2-0 defeat at Norwich City on April 5th, they lost 2-1 at home to Sheffield United on April 12th. But they were 1-0 winners at relegation-threatened Southampton last Saturday, and will finish their Championship schedule at Crystal Palace a week on Sunday.

Former England International Andy Cole has been a regular since coming on loan from Sunderland on January 29th, and Burnley boss Owen Coyle hopes to sign the 35 year-old striker on a permanent basis for next season.
