Joe Calzaghe defeated Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas on Saturday night and added the light heavyweight title to his glittering array of titles and honours.

Billed as the "Battle of the Planets",  the Welshmen came out on top with a points decision over the American Hopkins. A defeat for the former light heavyweight in his own backyard will rank as one of the greatest Welsh sporting moments.

Cardiff City Football Club would like to congratulate Joe on his achievement. It was also great to see the undefeated champion don the Bluebirds shirt in the weigh in. He made many a Cardiff Fan very proud in more ways than one.
