It is well enough known that Fred Keenor, our locally-born Welsh International, lifted the F.A. Cup for The Bluebirds at Wembley in 1927, but two other captains with Cardiff City connections have also led their sides through the semi-finals to eventual victory in the Final.

Scottish International full-back Jimmy Nelson, who played in our 1925 and 1927 sides at Wembley, went on to captain Newcastle United when they beat Arsenal 2-1 in the 1932 Final. And Cardiff-born Peter Rodrigues, who had played for us from 1960 to 1966 before moving on to Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday, led Southampton to a memorable 1-0 win over Manchester United in 1976.
