FORMER STARS: WEMBLEY WISHES
Article: Barrie McAuliffe
After an eighty one year sabbatical from Wembley Stadium, you'll forgive us for taking some time to appreciate the achievement of making it through to the semi-final of the FA Cup this coming Sunday.
As a means of providing an apt send off, there seemed no better task than tracking down a few old friends and compiling a list of good luck messages. The majority are of course ex Cardiff City, though we also managed a few surprises.

Graham Kavanagh
I'll be watching it on my TV at home for sure. It's going to be a really exciting match and a great opportunity for Cardiff to reach the final. Of course it's going to be a huge occasion for the fans, who are brilliant. The Leeds game back in the day was massive as a one off, but the lads are so close now to something great. My message to the lads is that I watched the Middlesbrough game and you'd have thought that Cardiff were the Premier League team on the day. Now you have the chance to shine at Wembley and perhaps even make it to the final. You have the ability to make it as long as you they can stay confident and put in a performance on the day. I hope City can make the final and even though Portsmouth are the favourites, any team of the four can win it. Here's hoping that team is Cardiff.

Kevin Ratcliffe
It's a great occasion. It's alright saying enjoy it, but I can tell you will enjoy it more if you win. City don't need to do anything different and if they can repeat their performance at Middlesbrough who knows? They could make the final. Good luck to Dave and the lads.

Cameron Jerome
I'd like to with the lads the best of luck on Sunday. It's a massive achievement to get to play at Wembley and I hope that the lads make the most of the experience. It's going to be a big day for everyone, the fans especially - and I'm sure everyone will have a great time. I'll be going along to the game if I can. I haven't spoken to the lads in a short while, but I'll be calling Joe or sending him a text next week to wish him well myself.

Mickey Thomas
I'll be wearing my blue and white scarf and will be screaming for a City win in front of the big TV if I can't make it to the game in person. Everyone in Wales should get behind the boys. My message to them is that they're more than capable of doing it. They have the chance to go out there and make the club and Wales proud. I hope that they can get through to the final, especially for the fans who are a cracking bunch and right up there as supporters.

Jason Koumas
Well done lads on the success so far - I've been following the journey closely this season and I hope you can go all the way. All the best.

Chris Gunter
Congratulations to all the players and staff for making it to the semi final. I'll be there cheering the boys on thanks to Rambo (Aaron Ramsey) sorting me out with a ticket. If the lads play the way I know they can, then with a touch of luck we'll be getting to see Cardiff City in an FA Cup Final. I hope we can make it through and think it's thoroughly deserved.

Joe Jacobson
I'd like to wish the lads every success on Sunday. I've been lucky enough to have been to the new stadium with Rovers, but unlucky enough to have not been eligible to play at the time. It's a fantastic stadium and the atmosphere is excellent. I hope that the boys can step up and get the win to get through to the final. I'm sure that if they play as well as they can they'll have a great chance. Good luck!

Scott Young
All the best lads from everyone at Newport County and the whole of the Football in the Community staff at Cardiff City. I wish I was out there with you on Sunday.

Byron Anthony
The new Wembley Stadium is a fantastic place to play. Not many players have the chance to play there and Cardiff has a great chance of making the final. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get there myself, but if not I'll definitely be watching it on TV if not. I'd like to wish the lads the best of luck on the day.

Sir Bobby Robson
My message to the players is to go out there and to do the best you can. It's a big occasion for you and you're in the spotlight as a player to the world. Enjoy it, that's the important thing. I've had a feeling for Cardiff throughout this year's FA Cup and would like to see a Cardiff v West Brom final. All the best to Cardiff - I'm thrilled to see what's been achieved there over the past few years. Dave has done a great job to bring the club through and to make it the success that they are. I'll be watching both games on the Saturday and Sunday from home on my TV, the best place to be.

John Aldridge
I'll be watching the match on the big screen in my local pub and will be backing Cardiff in the semi-final. I've got links with Wales from my time at Newport County and it's great to see the club make it to Wembley. It's well deserved and with Robbie being a good mate of mine, I'll be hoping that there's a chance he can play at the new stadium. Dave has done really well and things are starting to come to fruition down there due to the hard work that everyone is doing. I'm glad to see it's paying off. Good luck everyone and have a fantastic day out.

Andy Legg
I still keep in touch with everything that goes on at Ninian. Dave Jones has done a superb job and the squad have been playing really well. Here's hoping for a great day out for everyone and the win we all want. Best of luck to Cardiff.

Wrexham
All at The Racecourse wish you every success on Sunday (Geraint Parry, Secretary). Do it for Wales!

Roger Gibbins
It's every player's dream to play at Wembley, let alone Cardiff City's lads. I never had the chance during my career, so for my former club to be there in the semi-final on Sunday will be great - Good Luck to the lads.

Peter Thorne
I'll definitely be watching the game and hope that Cardiff can get the win to take them through. I'd love to go, but unfortunately we've got a game on the Saturday and Tuesday, so the gaffer will have us in on the Sunday morning. I'll be watching the game and having my dad over to cheer on the lads from our TV. It's incredible that they've got this far and I fancy them to turn over Barnsley, hopefully with Paul Parry getting a goal. I've been catching some of the games on TV this season and they've played really well. There's a real buzz about the club and the results have gone well lately. It's great. Good luck lads. Have a great day!

Swansea City
Good luck to our fellow Welsh rivals at Wembley on Sunday from all at the Liberty Stadium - we hope that you make it to the Final.

Neil Cox
All the best lads. I'll be watching the game, no doubt from a local bar and know that there'll be no problems of success if the boys can keep their heads straight and play the way they have been lately.
Gary Bell
It's unbelievable for me. The two clubs closest to my heart - former club Cardiff who I still watch regularly, and West Bromwich Albion whom I've supported since I was a boy growing up in the West Midlands - both being at Wembley in the semi-finals this weekend. Let's hope that tonight is an F.A. Cup dress-rehearsal.

Malvin Kamara
I'll be backing the boys in the semi-final. City have added some great and talented players to compliment those already there. The way that they've been playing lately, they have nothing to fear and I hope everyone enjoys the day. With MK Dons winning at Wembley on Sunday in the League Trophy, this year I'll be hoping that I can make it two out of two for my former teams. I hope that Cardiff can pull it off and get to the final. You never know, they could even go all the way. Good luck lads. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Shannon Hope, Cardiff Devils
Good luck to Dave Jones and the Cardiff team on Sunday. I'll be supporting the boys on the day and lets hope they can get the win and make it to the final. Good luck everyone.

Rhys Weston
I'll be watching the game on TV at home as we have a new puppy who has taken over our lives! I'd like to wish the boys the best of luck on Sunday. I'll be rooting for you along with everyone else. Give a good account of yourselves and the rest will follow. Have a great day.

Kevin Cooper
It's a great achievement by everyone to get this far and I'll be at Wembley with my family cheering the lads on. Lets hope they can go one further and make it to the final - and then who knows what can be achieved? Good luck lads.

Michael Chopra
I'd like to wish the lads all the best for their day out in the semi-final. I really hope that Cardiff win the match. It's a little bit strange, because of my connections with Barnsley. But I was only there on loan and have a lot of time for everyone at Cardiff and still have lots of friends there. I'll be there at the game and will be speaking to Roger before as we still keep in regular contact. I wish I could have come down to be involved, but I'll be there as a supporter instead and hope the lads can do the business to make it to the final.

Mark Bonner
I wish the lads good luck. It's great to see them in the semi final and it's an excellent achievement for Cardiff. I know Trevor very well so it would be great to see him notch the winner. Good luck - I'll be watching.

Chris Barker
I still know and have a lot of good friends down in Cardiff. I've been watching the progress through the rounds. The lads put in a superb performance at Middlesbrough and if they can produce the same again they could be walking out at Wembley in May. I will be supporting the City on the day and wish them all the best.

Kevin Campbell
I've got a foot in two camps this weekend. On Sunday I really hope and pray that City can make it to the finals. It's a fantastic achievement and I have to take my hat off to the team for making it to the semis. I've got lots of ties in Cardiff and think the club and the fans are spot on. I'll be in Cardiff on Friday doing some radio work, so I'll be in the mood early on. It's also great to see West Brom at Wembley and that they're flying in the league. The games in hand could put them to the top of the table, though Cardiff will want to have a say in that one. Good luck to the lads at West Brom on Saturday also. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Neil Alexander
We're playing Dundee away on Sunday, but it's a 2pm kick-off, so I'll find a way to get to a radio afterwards. I'd like to wish Cardiff the very best of luck in the semi final at Wembley. I hope that you can make it to the final - you deserve it! I'll be supporting the boys for sure.
Thanks to everyone who took part in contacting the faces below - and thanks also to the players who called back after getting the voicemail!
