FANS MAN OF THE MATCH - CAMERON JEROME - Huw Jones, Ellis Carr and Lewis Turner all win signed Jerome programmes.

The Bluebirds were dealt a cruel ninetieth minute blow on Saturday, as Wolves managed to grab a late point to break the hearts of the City faithful.

Cameron Jerome put City ahead after just three minutes when he rose well to head home Alan Lee's header across the face of goal. The 18-year-old then added a second shortly after the restart with a right-footed drive.

Leon Clarke's close-range effort gave Wolves hope with 20 minutes, before Lescott completed the comeback when he stabbed the ball home from six yards on the ninety minute mark.

Despite the disappointment of what could have been however, based on the quality and chances created from Glenn Hoddle's team, a point will eventually go down as a fair result.

Many will also in time remember the day as one where the Cardiff squad showed enough guts, determination and quality to match potential promotion hopefuls. If this can be continued, then we are sure that the season can only go from strength to strength.

Team news confirmed Paul Parry and Chris Barker were out of the action, following injury against Colchester midweek. Their replacements in the starting eleven were Joe Ledley and Glenn Loovens - both of whom were to make their first starting eleven appearance of the year.

The issues in defence meant that Ledley was to fill in on the left, with Kevin Cooper in front in an attacking position. Jason Koumas also was in the eleven, as was Alan Lee in partnership with Jerome.

From a Wolves perspective, one ex England International was replaced by another - Darren Anderton making his Championship debut as Paul Ince was out injured.

City had a dream start and were one ahead after two minutes. Alan Lee's powerful run down the right channel won a corner that was excellently swung in by Koumas.

Although cleared, Koumas linked well with Kevin Cooper who delivered a sublime cross to Lee, who then deftly nodded down from the far stick to Jerome - the striker making no mistake and powerfully directing his header in from close range.

Cardiff 1 - 0 Wolves

Wolves looked to break back immediately and posed a threat on Alexander's goal. The Scottish 'keeper was up to the task however and cleared well with his feet.

The action was end, with both teams capable of a goal. With ten minutes on the clock, Jason Koumas showed excellent vision by delivering a long ball for Jerome to chase. Despite the run from Jerome being cause to give Oaks concern, the shot was cleared for a corner.

Wolves were also dangerous, with excellent chances for Carl Court, Kenny Milller and Colin Cameron. Fortunately their shooting was off the boil in the first fifteen minutes and all chances were missed . . Carl Court definitely won't want to see the opportunity on video.

The half continued to even form, though Wolves on paper had more chances but were unable to get on the end of the ball.

City were less involved in the final third than they had been in the opening minutes, though could take great credit in their ability to stop Wolves from playing.

Wolves looked to break through and almost did with three minutes remaining - a shot from the right was aimed low, but sailed wide, summing up Wolves' ability to capitalise on good play in the middle of park.

Half Time: Cardiff 1 - 0 Wolves

No changes were made at half time as Wolves came out of the blocks quickly - all men forward and intent on an early equaliser.

George Ndah was the first to test Alexander as a corner on the left was deflected to his path by Jerome's back header. Fortunately, Alexander did enough and stretched to push the ball out for a corner.

A minute later however it was the Bluebirds who broke through for their second. A break from midfield saw Jason Koumas power forward on goal, though the ball was tangled at his feet. To his aid came Lee, who laid the ball off to Jerome.

Jerome continued his impressive start by keeping his head down and drilling a powerful shot past Oaks for his and Cardiff's second goal.

Cardiff 2 - 0 Wolves

The second goal didn't kill the game off, as Wolves continued to try their luck going forward. A collision between Glenn Loovens and Neil Alexander after sixty minutes almost proved costly with the Wolves attack looking to mop up - though Loovens fortunately cleared just in time.

The end to end aspect resumed and after sixty five minutes, Jason Koumas stole the ball in midfield and ran forward at pace towards Oaks.

Alan Lee made a good position and almost got the third, though his time on the ball was slightly overcooked and his shot was blocked for a corner. From the corner City almost scored again as Alan Lee rose highest and headed Whitley's cross over the bar.

Two minutes later though, it was Wolves who capitalised and managed to get one back through Leon Clarke - his left-footed drive to the bottom-right of goal came after Alexander was placed under unnecessary pressure - spilling the ball out to Clarke's path to give the chance.

Cardiff 2 - 1 Wolves

Wolves took the goal to great affect, from that point pouring forward towards the Grange End back line with every opportunity - the introduction of Ricketts and Naylor definitely giving the City defence much more of a headache.

The half turned into one where the Bluebirds were pinned back deep as Wolves pushed forward. Kevin Cooper was taken off for Neal Ardley - both sets of fans giving a great reception, duly deserved.

Though City were under constant pressure, it looked as if they might escape with the win. Chance after chance came for the attacking Wolves, though no break through could be found.

Alan Lee was taken off with tree minutes to play - his contribution given a deserved ovation. His replacement in Ferretti gave the young striker a fist taste of Championship football at Ninian Park.

But as is often the case, the sting was still in the tail for City, as just after the assistant displayed a questionable four minutes of added time, a Wolves break gave their support what they had been waiting for - Lescott getting the equaliser to dampen the mood.

Cardiff 2 - 2 Wolves

The injury time minutes were played to a stunned Ninian Park, though the Bluebirds on the field still tried their best to regain the lead. Jason Koumas made a great run after ninety four minutes, to be brought down ten yards outside the area.

Substitute Ferretti stepped up and blasted a shot over the bar, but the free knick was instructed to be taken again for a Wolves infringement. This time it was Koumas to try, though the deflection forced a corner that never came due to the referee.

We left disappointed with the result, with no game to play on Tuesday due to International duty.

Positives could definitely be found in all departments however, meaning that you can't help but feel that better things lay just around the corner.
