Dave Jones left early to be with his daughter who is ill in hospital. Terry Burton faced the press after Cardiff's 4-1 win over visitors Colchester and gave his reaction.

"We got a better performance today but I don't think it would have been hard to get a better performance than we did in the week. We were all very disappointed from the players down to the staff in the way in which we performed on Tuesday. We did owe the fans a performance today and we gave them that.

"With it 0-1 at half time I thought that was a false position. I thought we passed the ball well and that's all that was missing was that final ball into the box and the final finish on one or two occasions.

"Then we got punished for a moment of sloppiness at the back, we could have cleared the ball but a lack of communication with each other and their guy has stole in and scored. Come half time we thought we'd played well without putting the final touches to the performance but we did believe that if we could get one back then we could have gone on to win the game. You always hope that if you can get one in early then you'll have more time to go on and win the game."
