The Wales Under 17 side finished the week in Northern Ireland with an emphatic 3-1 win at Mourneview Park, Lurgan on a cold Saturday evening.

The game was the final one for both sides in the Elite Round of UEFA qualifiers. Sadly neither side could qualify for the finals after earlier defeats to Scotland. Also in the group were Slovenia.

The game was won in the first fifteen minutes after Wales took a 2-0 lead through captain Kai Edwards, scoring with a header from a corner, then Josh Dawkin added a second on thirteen minutes with a long solo run and crisp finish.

Northern Ireland pulled one back four minutes in tothe second half, but a great solo run and shot by Birmingham City's Shane Williams wrapped things up six minutes later.

The hosts continued to press to get back in to the game and did hit the post, but in the end, Wales were comfortable winners to finish the week on a positive note.
