Our Football in the Community Department is out in Germany this week coaching children in British Military barracks. Scott Young and the rest of the gang are keeping a diary to keep everyone updated to the goings on at home in Wales.

Dear Diary,

It's now Tuesday morning and we're about to start our second day. The first day went extremely well, mainly thanks to Sgt Stuart Jackson's organisational skills!

All 53 children turned up on time, (what else would you expect from military children!) and the morning was spent working on dribbling skills. The afternoon comprised several tournaments in order to cater for all age groups, with Gary Wilmot and Kevin Evans taking the little un's for a fantastic 3 a-side tournament. Featuring some great skills from Gary and Kevin and, thankfully, some better skills form the under 8's! Callum McKenzie and Tony Thomas took the U9's through to U11's which also lead to great skills from the kids. Marc Cahill took the U12's upwards with the help of Scott Young which went down a storm with all the older children revelling in the chance to either play with or against the former City legend. Unfortunately for Marc he didn't handle this added pressure well and was on the wrong end of no less than 6 nut-megs! A bad day at the office you could say!

Later that afternoon Sgt Keith Amos took all the boys out for a ride in his tank! After a quick tutorial it was over to the boys to have a go up and down the compound. Little did the boys know it but Keith and Stuart were assessing their skills! Tony Thomas won the day for the Merthyr region with Marc in second, Scott Young in third, Callum in fourth and Gary and Kevin in joint last, much to the annoyance of Gary! Not only did Gary feel he'd done well but Kevin became the first man in Army history to stall a tank!

Later on today we've got a football tournament against a few of the army teams. I'll get back to you tomorrow on how we fair but I must admit I'm a little concerned! Scott will have to be on his best form????
