Heartbreaker for Cardiff U-18's as a last minute winner for Leicester sinks City 1-0.

The young Bluebirds were unfortunate against Leicester on Saturday as they put in a strong performance and could easily have won the game.

Throughout the game, Cardiff were presented with many chances but failed to convert them as Leicester took the initiative late on. The visitors came to the game in the lofty position of 2nd in the league table and have shown themselves to be a very physical side with a reputation of bringing players through the system to the Foxes' first team. Players such as Ashley Chambers, Andy King and Joe Mattock have all risen through the ranks, with the latter going on to impose himself as a first team player for the Championship side and earn England U-21 honours in November 2007.

The killer blow in the game, however, came in the 92nd minute when a long balled was volleyed across the box. The ball was deflected off a Cardiff defender and it fell to a Leicester striker to put the ball in the back of the net.

Cardiff Academy Manager Neal Ardley:
"The performance was fantastic. We did so well for the 90 minutes and to be undone late on is frustrating. Leicester are a team who are 'in it to win it' and we disrupted that for most of the match."
