Cardiff U-18's fall 3-1 to Coventry U-18's in a disappointing afternoon for the young Bluebirds.

Geraint Twose was critical of his side's performance as they conceded three goals against the Sky Blues. The goals themselves came from poor errors from the Cardiff team and the Bluebirds coaching staff were also disappointed by the lack of chances created from open play.

Coventry's first goal was a well worked through ball which out-foxed the Cardiff defence and was finished well. The second was a header that looped over the Bluebirds goalkeeper and into the far corner of the net.

The general feeling from the game was that there was too much of a reliance on the returning Matt Smith from set pieces. Cardiff's goal, in fact, came from an excellent free kick from Smith which Zak Evans was more than grateful to flick the ball past the Coventry goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The highly talented Smith has only just come back from a serious knee injury that kept him out for a large part of last season.

The final nail in the coffin for Cardiff was when Coventry got their third goal. The Cardiff goalkeeper spilled the ball in the worst possible area and a Coventry man was on hand to tap the ball into an empty net.
