Report: Chris Nokes

Cardiff U18's fell to a 1-0 defeat at Fulham but regained their honour after last week's thrashing against Crystal Palace. Chris Nokes reports.

The Bluebirds showed their mettle with a very honest performance against a strong Fulham side. The performance was filled with real desire to make amends for last week's 5-1 loss to Crystal Palace and the attitude from the players was first class.

The goal which sunk them was a momentary lapse of concentration which allowed Fulham to fire the ball in the back in the net. As coach Geraint Twose continues to point out, you can't afford to make these mistakes at this level. As the game entered its later stages Cardiff piled on the pressure with many dangerous situations being created for the Bluebirds. However, they couldn't take advantage and they just lacked the cutting edge to really punish Fulham.

Overall, however, Cardiff played very well and the response which coach Geraint Twose needed from the Cardiff boys was there. Also, good performances from centre forward Craig Mason and midfielder Paul Gallagher will be particularly pleasing for Twose as he looks forward to next Saturdays game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The under 16s lost 3-2.
